01How it works

How it heats without burning electricity

A conventional geyser makes heat with a 3–4 kW element. The IHP Geyser® collects heat that is already in the air and moves it into your water.

  1. 01

    Draw in air

A built-in fan pulls in surrounding air — even on a cold day it holds usable heat.

  2. 02

    Absorb the heat

Refrigerant in the evaporator soaks up that warmth and turns to vapour.

  3. 03

    Compress

The GMCC-Toshiba compressor squeezes the vapour, pushing its temperature up.

  4. 04

    Heat the water

Heat transfers into the tank — up to 75 °C — and the loop runs again.

02Where the power goes

Your geyser is the biggest line on your bill

A conventional electric geyser uses 50–60% of a typical household’s electricity. Moving that heat with a pump instead of making it with an element changes the whole bill.

08FAQ

Questions homeowners ask

IHP Geyser®

Why choose the Power4Less IHP Geyser®?

A conventional geyser accounts for 50–60% of a typical electricity bill. The IHP Geyser® brings water heating down to about 10% — roughly what your lights use — taking annual running costs from around R30,000 to about R2,000. It is engineered not to leak or burst, delivers up to 15 years of service with proper care, keeps water hot for longer through superior insulation, and is app-controlled from anywhere.

How does it actually work?

Instead of burning electricity in an element, a built-in fan draws in surrounding air. The system absorbs and compresses that heat, then transfers it straight into your water. The cycle repeats continuously on less than 600 W, compared with the 3,000–4,000 W of a traditional electric geyser. Same hot shower, a fraction of the cost.

What do I need for installation?

The unit stands upright, ideally outdoors on a flat, level surface, with a plug point within 4 m. If you shelter it under a cover, leave at least 2 m above the unit for maintenance. Certified IOPSA IHP installers work nationwide, and we supply a pre-installation guide. Installation vouchers are available at select retail partners — ask for the IOPSA installation terms when using one.

Which sizes are available?

Two: the 200 L model for households of 2–4 people, and the 300 L model for larger families or high hot-water demand. Sizes and weights may change slightly as model improvements are introduced.

Can any plumber install it?

We recommend IOPSA-certified IHP plumbers. They have completed specialised IOPSA training and certification specifically for installing the Power4Less IHP Geyser®, which protects both your installation and your warranty.

Does it work in winter?

Yes. The heat pump operates from −15 °C to 43 °C, and a built-in 2 kW backup element adds heat when demand is high.

Switch your geyser. Keep the hot shower.
